BIRTHDAY BEAR TRADITION

I have 9 old, wrinkly friends, who are retired or semi-retired. Five of them all used to work together and the other four are husbands. They didn't want to lose touch when they retired so they decided to meet and have lunch or dinner when it was their birthdays. However, they got disenchanted with buying a present every time, and decided instead to give a Birthday Bear (thats me.) I get passed from one birthday person to the next each time they meet. The fun part is, that I get to be dressed differently each time, usually to reflect some aspect of the recipient's personality or life.
PS: Two of my wrinklies, Chris and Bob, have gone on a working holiday tour around Australia so they don't celebrate with us very often.

TOO TIRED TO CATCH FISH

Helen and Paul went to Burrum Heads for a rest after Paul finished his last dose of cancer treatment. It is a lovely little fishing village but Helen was happy just to chill out and look at the lovely view from her window. On her birthday, Mary dressed me to keep Helen company when she is having a rest.
I rather enjoy this life style. Laying around in my jammies and eating TimTams, delicious chocolate cookies. The view is not bad either. Just secretly, I'd rather do this than be out there with Paul catching fish. Anyway there wasn't any salmon in the river.

We celebrated Helen's birthday at Sunnybank Hotel. Everyone had delicious steak, chicken or fish but I was happy with my TimTams and guess what, I didn't share them with the wrinklies. They are all fat enough. Oops I hope they don't read this.

Helen is happy to chill out with me. I might even give her a TimTam.

A VOLUNTEER PHOTOGRAPHY TUTOR

I bet you didn't know that I am a bear of many talents. When it was Diane's birthday, Mary said that I was smart enough to help Diane tutor at the University of the Third Age.
Here I am with my pointer and white board as well as my lesson notes, examples of good photos and photographic gear. I am ready to help Diane at her next class.

Diane is pretty happy about that and thanks Mary for getting me ready to help with the lectures.

We had a yummy Italian lunch at La Porchetta in Loganholme. It is great to see my friend Paul, in the blue sweater, be here to celebrate with us because he is beary beary sick with cancer.

ANYONE FOR A CUPPA?

When it was Mary's birthday, Ann turned me into a tea lady bear. I was beary, beary pleased with that because I would be able to snack on morning tea nibblies when I helped Mary prepare afternoon tea for her church.
I have on my best top and pants and pretty shoes. Mary is happy to have me as a helper. Hee hee she doesn't know how much I love to eat cakes, slices and cookies especially when they have honey in them.

Ann helped me cook a lovely honey and nut slice......oooooooooh my mouth is watering, Mary is holding them right under my nose.

After lunch at the Runcorn Tavern I made the wrinkles a cup of tea and I let them have a piece of slice but I made sure there was plenty left for me.
